Sayonara Umihara Kawase Game Gets Android Release

posted on by Rafael Antonio Pineda
Smartphone game debuted on August 27

Sakai Game Seisakujo released the Sayonara Umihara Kawase Smart smartphone game for Android on Monday. The game is based on Studio Saizensen's Sayonara Umihara Kawase game.

The game is free to download, and the first 10 levels are available. The full game with additional levels can be purchased from within the game.

In the game series, the player controls the sushi chef Kawase Umihara, using her fishing rod to navigate the games' levels. Kiyoshi Sakai developed the game, and Toshinobu Kondō designed the characters and provided illustrations. Both worked on the original 1994 Umihara Kawase game.

The original Umihara Kawase game shipped for the Super Famicom in Japan in 1994. The Umihara Kawase Shun game shipped for PlayStation in Japan in 1997. The most recent game, Sayonara Umihara Kawase Chirari, debuted in Japan for Nintendo 3DS in 2013, and for PlayStation Vita in 2015. Natsume released the game for Nintendo 3DS in North America under the title Yumi's Odd Odyssey in 2014, and the game launched for PS Vita in North America under the title Sayonara Umihara Kawase + in 2015.

Agatsuma Entertainment released the Umihara Kawase Trilogy game set on PC via Steam in 2015. The set includes Umihara Kawase, Umihara Kawase Shun, and Sayonara Umihara Kawase Chirari. The games were delisted from Steam in January 2016 after Agatsuma Entertainment shut down in December 2015. However, Degica acquired the rights to the games and relisted them on Steam later in January 2016.

Game developer Success previously teased a new installment of the game for the Nintendo Switch at the 2017 Tokyo Game Show.
