The official website for the anime adaptation of Satoru Noda's Golden Kamuy manga revealed on Monday that Katsuyuki Konishi will play Second Lieutenant Koito in the anime's second season. The website also revealed a character visual for Koito.
The second season will premiere on October 8 on Tokyo MX, Sapporo TV, Jidaigeki Senmon Channel, Yomiuri TV, and BS11. Crunchyroll will stream the series as it airs, and Funimation will stream an English dub.
Viz Media is releasing the manga in English, and it describes the first volume:
In the early twentieth century, Russo-Japanese War veteran Saichi “Immortal” Sugimoto scratches out a meager existence during the postwar gold rush in the wilderness of Hokkaido. When he stumbles across a map to a fortune in hidden Ainu gold, he sets off on a treacherous quest to find it. But Sugimoto is not the only interested party, and everyone who knows about the gold will kill to possess it! Faced with the harsh conditions of the northern wilderness, ruthless criminals and rogue Japanese soldiers, Sugimoto will need all his skills and luck—and the help of an Ainu girl named Asirpa—to survive.
Noda launched the ongoing manga in Shueisha's Young Jump magazine in 2014. The manga's 15th compiled book volume will ship on September 19 and bundle an anime DVD focusing on the manga's Barato arc.
Noda received a Manga Taisho award for the manga in March 2016. The series was also nominated for Best General Manga at the 40th annual Kodansha Manga Awards and for the 20th and 21st Annual Tezuka Osamu Cultural Prize. The manga was nominated again for the 23rd this year, and finally won the award.
Update: Character name fixed. Thanks, shosakukan.
