New Saint Tail Manga Launches on Thursday

Kaitō Saint Tail girls! manga by Shiki Yamori set some years after original Saint Tail vanished

The official Twitter account for Kodansha and pixiv's Palcy manga app revealed on Tuesday that Shiki Yamori launched a new manga based on Megumi Tachikawa's Saint Tail manga on Thursday. The manga is titled Kaitō Saint Tail girls!, and is set a few years after the original Saint Tail vanished, and a new girl rises to take up the mantle.

Yamori is the winner of Kodansha and pixiv's contest to find an artist for the "next generation" version of the manga. The contest ran from June to July last year.

The original manga ran in Kodansha's Nakayoshi magazine from 1994 to 1996, and Kodansha released seven compiled book volumes. The manga inspired a television anime adaptation in 1995. Tokyopop released the manga and anime series in North America.

In the manga's story, Meimi Haneoka is a 14-year-old student at St. Paulia Academy in Seika City. At night, she transforms into Saint Tail, a magical thief who steals from thieves to give items to their original owners. Meimi gets help from her friend and nun-in-training Seira Mimori. Meimi's classmate Asuka Jr. is determined to uncover Saint Tail's true identity.
