GaoGaiGar, Betterman Get Crossover Web Manga

posted on by Karen Ressler
Manga adapts novel series that is already running

A web manga adaptation of Sunrise's Hakaiō ~Gaogaigar tai Betterman~ stories debuted on Tuesday. The fist chapter is available for free in Japanese.

Sunrise's Yatate Bunko imprint began publishing the original prose stories online in September 2016, and the most recent chapter debuted on August 30. Sunrise released the first part of the story in June 2017 in a volume labelled as the third book in Yuichiro Takeda's The King of Braves: GaoGaiGar novel series.

The original story is a crossover between Sunrise's Gaogaigar anime franchise and its spinoff, Betterman. It takes place in 2016, eight years after the end of Brave King GaoGaiGar Final.

The GaoGaiGar: King of the Braves television anime, part of Sunrise's Brave Saga franchise, debuted in 1997 and spawned the Brave King GaoGaiGar Final OVA sequel, which in turn inspired the Brave King GaoGaiGar Final Grand Glorious Gathering television anime that retells the OVA's story with an alternate ending. Media Blasters released the series in North America.

Betterman aired in Japan in 1999. Bandai Entertainment previously licensed and released the series in 2002. Sentai Filmworks has since picked up the license, but has not yet released it.
