posted on by Karen Ressler
Series premiere in Japan on October 5, October 9

FUNimation Entertainment and Crunchyroll announced on Wednesday that they are adding the Hinomaru Sumo (Hinomaru Zumō) and Conception anime to their fall 2018 lineups. Cruncyroll will stream the shows in Japanese with English subtitles worldwide outside of Asia, and Funimation will stream English dubs.

The anime adaptation of Kawada's Hinomaru Zumō will premiere in Japan on October 5 at 10:00 p.m. on Tokyo MX and AbemaTV. The show will also air on BS11, Sun TV, TV Aichi, and TVQ Broadcasting Kyushu.

Kōnosuke Uda (One Piece, DAYS) is serving as chief director and Yasutaka Yamamoto (Hero Bank, Actually, I Am…) is directing at GONZO. Kii Tanaka (Cheating Craft, Hundred) is designing the characters. NAS is producing.

Shonen Jump describes the manga's story:

It is a divine ritual, a martial art, a combat sport—it's sumo!!

A "small" new student, Ushio Hinomaru!, appears before the weak little sumo club of Oodachi High School! The words "big" and "heavy" are the rules to this sport, which does not fit this newbie any inch, but this guy goes and does what...!?

Ushio and the small sumo club climbs its way to the top!

The goal is *Hinoshita Kaisan!

A fired up high school sumo tale—no retakes allowed!!

*Hinoshita Kaisan - A title for the highest rank in professional sumo, equivalent of Yokozuna.

The television anime of Spike Chunsoft's Conception: Ore no Kodomo wo Undekure! (Conception: Please Give Birth to My Child!) game will premiere on Sun TV and BS11 on October 9 at 25:30 (effectively October 10 at 1:30 a.m.), and it will then premiere on Tokyo MX on October 9 at 25:40 (effectively October 11 at 1:40 a.m.).

The story of the game revolves around Itsuki Yūge, a high school student who finds out on the day of his graduation ceremony that his cousin and childhood friend Mahiru is pregnant. Immediately afterward, Itsuki and Mahiru are taken to a magical world called Granvania, which is currently being invaded by monsters. The only people who can fight and exorcise the monsters are the "Star Children," and the Star Children can only be produced by the 12 "Star Maidens." In order to defeat the monsters and return to his own world, Itsuki must father the Star Children with the Maidens.

Keitaro Motonaga (Jormungand both seasons, Date A Live both seasons, Digimon Adventure tri. film series) is directing the anime at GONZO. Yuuko Kakihara (Chihayafuru both seasons, Heaven's Lost Property, Digimon Adventure tri. film series) is handling the series composition, Yousuke Okuda (Is the order a rabbit? both seasons and special, Blend S) is adapting Shinichirou Otsuka's (Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World- ) original character designs for animation, and Masato Kōda (KonoSuba – God’s blessing on this wonderful world!!, Arpeggio of Blue Steel - Ars Nova, Knight's & Magic) is composing the music. Kōda also composed the music for the original game.
