posted on by Karen Ressler
Series premieres this weekend

The official website for the "final series" of the television anime adaptation of Hiro Mashima's Fairy Tail manga began streaming a promotional video on Saturday. The video previews the opening song "power of the dream" by lol.

The anime will premiere in Japan October 7, and new episodes will debut on TV Tokyo, TV Osaka, TV Aichi, TV Hokkaido, TV Setouchi, and TV Q Kyuushuu on Sundays at 7:00 a.m. Crunchyroll and Funimation will stream the anime with English subtitles; Funimation's stream will begin on October 6 at 6:30 p.m. EDT. Funimation will also stream an English dub beginning on October 29.

The main staff are all returning from the second and most recent television anime. Shinji Ishihira is directing at A-1 Pictures and Bridge, Masashi Sogo is handling series composition, and Shinji Takeuchi and Toshihiko Sano are designing the characters. Shōji Hata is the sound designer and Yasuharu Takanashi is composing the music. With the exception of the second animation studio and the character designers, the main staff is also the same as the first anime.

Mashima's Fairy Tail manga series follows the adventures of world's most notorious mage guild, Fairy Tail. The manga launched in 2006 and ended last July.

The manga has inspired two earlier television anime, two anime films, several original video anime projects, and spinoff manga. Kodansha Comics publishes the original manga and a number of its spinoffs in North America.

Atsuo Ueda (Dr. Prisoner, Hajime Shachō Monogatari) launched the official sequel the original manga titled Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest on Kodansha's Magazine Pocket manga app on July 25. Manga creator Kenshiro Sakamoto (Pitch-Black Ten) is drawing the Fairy Tail: Happy no Daibōken (Fairy Tail: Happy's Grand Adventure) spinoff manga, which launched on July 26. Ushio Andō is providing the story and art for the Fairy Tail City Hero spinoff manga, which is slated to debut this fall.
