Run Girls, Run! perform shows' opening theme song

A stage presentation at the "Dengeki Bunko 25th Anniversary Fall Dengeki Festival" event on Sunday revealed a promotional video and two more cast members for Satelight's television anime of Kōji Natsumi's Girly Air Force light novel series. The presentation also revealed the show's new key visual, staff, opening theme artist, and the January 2019 premiere.

The two new cast members include:

Shiori Izawa as Phantom

Lynn as Song Min Hoa

Run Girls, Run! will perform the show's opening theme song "Break the Blue." The unit performed the song for the first time during the presentation on Sunday.

Katsumi Ono (Senki Zesshō Symphogear AXZ, G, and GX; Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's and Arc-V) is directing the series at Satelight, and Shingo Nagai (WorldEnd, New Game!) is overseeing the series scripts. Tōru Imanishi (WorldEnd, Ragnastrike Angels) is adapting Asagi Tōsaka's original character designs for animation, and Imanishi is also serving as chief animation director. Hiroyuki Taiga (Xenosaga: The Animation, Horizon in the Middle of Nowhere) is the mechanical designer and and combat supervisor. "I've Sound" is composing the music.

Previously revealed cast members include:

Yūka Morishima as Gripen

Hitomi Ohwada as Eagle

Additionally, Ryota Ohsaka stars in the series as Kei Narutani.

In the novels' story, mysterious flying creatures known as Zai suddenly appear, and in order to fight the creatures, mankind creates fighter aircraft called "Daughters," as well as the automatic fighting mechanism "Anima," which are shaped like human girls. The story centers on a young man named Kei Narutani, who yearns to fly in the sky, and an Anima considered to be humanity's trump card, a girl named Gripen.

Natsumi launched the series in 2014, and Kadokawa's Dengeki Bunko imprint published the ninth novel volume on June 9. The 10th novel will ship in January. Asagi Tōsaka provides the illustrations for the novels. Natsumi previously worked on the series composition for Gust's Blue Reflection game.

Takahiro Seguchi is launching the manga adaptation of the light novel series in the December issue of Kadokawa's Monthly Shōnen Ace magazine on October 26.
