Romantic comedy opened in Japan last week

Toei began streaming a "making-of" video for the live-action film adaptation of Nana Shiiba's Kakugo wa Ii ka Soko no Joshi. (Are you ready? Hey you girl!) romantic comedy manga on Friday. The video shows behind-the-scenes footage of the cast and staff on set.

The film opened in Japan on October 12. The manga also inspired a television series that is set "a little before" the story of the film, and tells an original story of friends Ritsu, Ichiya, Ryūsei, and Towa. The series premiered in the Dramaism programming block on MBS in June and ran for five episodes.

Taishi Nakagawa (seen below) stars in the film and television series as Towa Furuya.

The television series will additionally star:

Erika Karata as the heroine Misono Miwa

Kentaro as Ritsu Niimi

Shōma Kai as Ichiya Sawada

Jiei Wakabayashi as Ryūsei Kuze

Yuri Tsunematsu as Kosame Asakura

Yōsuke Sugino as Tōma Naito

Noboru Iguchi directed the film, and Lee Jung-hee penned the script. Naoto Inti Raymi (Monster Strike The Movie theme song) performed the theme song "Hibiscus" for both the television series and film.

Kakugo wa Ii ka Soko no Joshi. centers on Towa Furuya, a handsome guy who has always had girl admirers, but has never had a girlfriend and remains a virgin. He resolves that he will get a girlfriend, and casually picks the cool and beautiful freshman Misono Miwa. When he attempts to spontaneously ask her out, she refuses him aggressively. But the more Towa thinks about her, the more he falls in love with her.

Shiiba launched the manga in Margaret in February 2014, and ended it in July of the same year. Shueisha published two compiled book volumes for the manga.
