Shimura launched romance manga in 2014

The December issue of Kodansha's Kiss magazine revealed on Thursday that manga creator Takako Shimura will end the Koiiji (Love Appetite) manga in the magazine's next issue on November 24.

The manga centers on Mame Ōhara, the 31-year-old second daughter of a family who run a public bathhouse named "Suzume-yu." Since childhood, she has had a crush on her friend Sōta Akai, who is the owner of a cafe and is five years her senior. Ever since Sōta's wife Haruko passed away, Mame's feelings for him have grown stronger. But when Mame's older sister Yume returns from overseas, she gets a bad feeling.

Shimura launched the manga in Kiss in August 2014. Kodansha published the manga's ninth compiled book volume on August 9.

Shimura is best known for her Wandering Son and Aoi Hana manga, both of which have inspired television anime series adaptations in 2011 and 2009 respectively. She also drew the original character designs for the Aldnoah.Zero and Battery anime. She also drew a short-run manga for the latter. Shimura launched the Sayonara, Otoko no Ko manga in May 2016, and it has one volume.
