posted on by Karen Ressler
2nd season premiered on October 8

The official website for the second season of the anime adaptation of Satoru Noda's Golden Kamuy manga revealed on Monday Bin Shimada has joined the anime's cast as Lieutenant General Narizō Arisaka. The character appeared the fourth episode of the second season (16th episode overall) on Monday

The second season premiered on October 8. Crunchyroll is streaming the series as it airs, and Funimation will stream an English dub beginning on October 31.

Viz Media is releasing the manga in English, and it describes the first volume:

In the early twentieth century, Russo-Japanese War veteran Saichi “Immortal” Sugimoto scratches out a meager existence during the postwar gold rush in the wilderness of Hokkaido. When he stumbles across a map to a fortune in hidden Ainu gold, he sets off on a treacherous quest to find it. But Sugimoto is not the only interested party, and everyone who knows about the gold will kill to possess it! Faced with the harsh conditions of the northern wilderness, ruthless criminals and rogue Japanese soldiers, Sugimoto will need all his skills and luck—and the help of an Ainu girl named Asirpa—to survive.

The anime's first season premiered on April 9. Crunchyroll streamed the series with English subtitles as it aired in Japan, and Funimation streamed it with an English dub.

Noda launched the ongoing manga in Shueisha's Young Jump magazine in 2014. The manga's 15th compiled book volume shipped on September 19, and it bundled an anime DVD focusing on the manga's Barato arc.

Noda received a Manga Taisho award for the manga in March 2016. The series was also nominated for Best General Manga at the 40th annual Kodansha Manga Awards and for the 20th and 21st Annual Tezuka Osamu Cultural Prize. The manga was nominated again for the 23rd award this year, and finally won the award.
