Game Strategy Guide Publisher Prima Games to Shut Down by Spring 2019
posted on by Jennifer Sherman
Penguin Random House subsidiary Dorling Kindersley announced on Thursday that its video game strategy guide imprint Prima Games will shut down by spring 2019. The closure will impact employees at all three of the United States publisher's offices.
Prima Games' Roseville, California office will close by mid-November, but its Indianapolis location will continue to publish until March 2019. The date for the New York office's closure is not yet known. Dorling Kindersley described the decision to close Prima Games as an “extremely difficult decision.”
Prima Games was founded in 1990, and it has since sold millions of video game strategy guides. The company is known for its guides for games such as Half-Life 2: Raising the Bar, Prince of Persia, and Myst, as well as for Nintendo franchises such as Pokémon and Mario.
