posted on by Egan Loo
Film opens in Japan on January 4, followed by April World Tour, June concerts at Metlife Dome

The official website for the Love Live! anime franchise began streaming the first full trailer for the Love Live! Sunshine!! The School Idol Movie Over the Rainbow film on Sunday.

The website also posted the second key visual for the film.

The Numazu Civic Cultural Center in Shizuoka Prefecture will host a stage greeting event on the film's opening day. The second batch of advance tickets will go on sale on December 16 in the form of MoviTicke cards with one of nine A3-size clear posters, each featuring exclusive art of an Aqours group member. A television special will air on Tokyo MX on December 31, just before the film opens.

The Aqours group will go on a Love Live! Sunshine!! Aqours World Love Live! Asia Tour 2019 in Taipei on April 6 and 7, in Chiba's Makuhari Event Hall on April 13 and 14, and in Seoul on April 20 and 21. The group will then hold the Love Live! Sunshine!! Aqours 5th Live concerts on June 8 and 9 at the Metlife Dome in Saitama Prefecture.

[In the film's story, Uranohoshi Girls' High School's idol group Aquors has won the final Love Live! contest.] While preparing to enroll at a new school, the first- and second-year students encounter unexpected trouble. Also, after heading for a graduation trip, the third-year students go missing. As they are separated, the Aquors members appreciate the weight of their togetherness for the first time. In order to move forward, they must decide how to react to their new situations.

The television anime's cast and staff are returning for the film.

The film will open in Japan on January 4, 2019, and it will be an all-new work (as opposed to a compilation or recap film).

The Love Live! Sunshine!! project was first announced in February 2015. The project's three key phrases are "Reader Participation," "Inspired by μ's," and "Seaside Town Setting." The group's name Aqours was chosen by fans by popular vote.

The first Love Live! Sunshine!! anime premiered in July 2016. The second season ran from October to December last year.
