Nobunaga Sensei no Osanazuma Time-Travel Comedy Manga Gets April 2019 TV Anime

Azure Konno's romantic comedy about Oda Nobunaga's wife Kichō stars Kōdai Sakai, Akari Uehara, Ari Ozawa

Publisher Futabasha announced on Tuesday that a television anime adaptation of Azure Konno's Nobunaga Sensei no Osanazuma (Mr. Nobunaga's Young Bride) manga has been green-lit for a premiere next April.

The romantic comedy manga's story centers on Nobunaga, a middle school teacher who constantly dreams of an adoring beautiful girl appearing in front of him. One day, Kichō, the 14-year-old wife of the real-life Sengoku (Warring States) period warlord Oda Nobunaga, does appear in front of him after having apparently traveled through time. She mistakes the present-day Nobunaga for the historical Oda Nobunaga, and tries to get him to get her pregnant.

The cast includes (Note: Names of historical Japanese characters are written with last name first.):

Kōdai Sakai as Nobunaga Oda, a teacher who loves gal games. He dreams of being in a harem surrounded by lots of girls, just like in games. However, he has never been able to get a girlfriend, so those dreams of a harem and more are still just dreams. Because he is a descendant of the historical Oda Nobunaga with a similar-sounding name (written with different kanji characters), his students call him "Mr. Nobunaga."

Akari Uehara as Saitō Kichō, a 14-year-old girl who came from the Warring States era. She should have been betrothed to Oda Nobunaga in a political marriage, but she time-traveled to the present day.

Ari Ozawa as Ikoma Kitsuno, Oda Nobunaga's concubine who was transported from the Warring States era to the present day. She lost her life at the age of 29, but was transported in a younger form.

Noriyoshi Sasaki (Ojisan to Marshmallow, My Wife is the Student Council President+!, King's Game The Animation, Holmes of Kyoto) is directing the anime at the studio Seven. Arikura Arika (Shūdengo, Capsule Hotel de, Jōshi ni Binetsu Tsutawaru Yoru.) is in charge of the series scripts. Takashi Nishikawa (animation director on Strange+, Holmes of Kyoto) is designing the characters.

Konno launched the manga in Futabasha's Monthly Action magazine in May 2017. Futabasha will publish the manga's third compiled book volume on Wednesday.

Konno's earlier Koe de Oshigoto! manga ran from 2008 to 2013 and inspired a two-episode original video anime in 2010. Media Blasters licensed and released the anime in 2014.

Digital Manga Publishing licensed Konno's Shiritsu Hakanai Gakuen manga in 2014 under the title No Pants, No Problem, but the title is no longer listed on the company's website. The manga began in 2013 and Futabasha published a total of five compiled book volumes for the series.
