posted on by Karen Ressler
Sentai Filmworks announced on Monday that it has licensed Frontier Works and Go Hands' original anime project W'Z in the United States, Canada, the UK, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, Latin America, the Netherlands, Scandinavia, Spain, and Portugal. The company plans to stream the anime as it airs this winter and eventually release it on home video.
The anime will premiere on January 5, and will air on MBS, Tokyo MX, TVQ, and BS11. The show will also stream online. The series will have 13 aired episodes, plus one additional episode on home video.
The anime is set in Osaka, similar to Go Hands' previous anime Hand Shakers. Sentai Filmworks describes the story:
Inspired by house music from a young age, Yukiya spends his free time as a DJ for a crowd of one and uploads his videos online. Like any young teenager, he yearns for something greater than his current life. He wants recognition and importance, but breaking out of his comfort zone means he runs the risk of getting hurt, so the cycle continues. That is, until the day he crosses the line of no return and stumbles across a mysterious live broadcast that will change his world forever.
GOON TRAX is in charge of the show's music. DJ RENA is credited with video and musical production cooperation. 27 musical artists will also participate in the series. Frontier Works and Go Hands previously stated that the show is targeted toward women.
