2 Men Arrested for Assault on NGT48 Idol Group Member Maho Yamaguchi

Both men released without charges after alleged assault outside Yamaguchi's home last month

NHK News reported on Wednesday that two men were arrested for allegedly assaulting NGT48 idol group member Maho Yamaguchi outside her own home in Niigata on December 8, but were later released without charges. According to NHK, the two suspects grabbed Yamaguchi's face as she was entering her home.

Police arrested both men for assault. According to the police, both suspects were 25-year-old unemployed university students. The police said that the suspects "only wanted to talk to Yamaguchi, and didn't think it would be a big deal." The suspects denied the assault and were subsequently released without charges.

NGT48 is a sister group of the AKB48 idol group based in Niigata prefecture, and it launched in 2015.
