Seattle's Sakura-Con to Host Manga Creator Satoshi Shiki

posted on by Crystalyn Hodgkins

The official Twitter account for Seattle's Sakura-Con convention announced on Thursday that this year's event will host manga creator and illustrator Satoshi Shiki. The appearance will be Shiki's first at Sakura-Con and his first appearance at an American convention since 2003.

Shiki's Daphne in the Brilliant Blue manga inspired a 24-episode television anime series in 2004. Geneon Entertainment released the anime on home video, and later ADV Films. Sentai Filmworks then picked up the license, and the show is now streaming on HIDIVE. Tokyopop released the manga in English.

Shiki is drawing the ongoing the manga adaptation of Ryo Suzukaze's Attack on Titan: Before the Fall light novel series. Kodansha Comics is releasing the manga in English. Shiki launched a new adaptation of Osamu Tezuka's Dororo manga in October.

Viz Media published Shiki's Riot manga in 1997, and Tokyopop published his Kami-Kaze manga in 2006-2008. He has also drawn art for manga such as XBlade, XBlade Cross, and Persona×Detective NAOTO.

This year's event will be held at the Washington State Convention Center in Seattle from April 19-21. Other announced guests include creators of the Gouk-Miyabi fashion brand.
