posted on by Crystalyn Hodgkins
Kadokawa began streaming a trailer on Friday for the anime adaptation of Frontwing's Grisaia: Phantom Trigger game. The video features Yoshino Nanjō's ending theme song "Sayonara no Wakusei" (Farewell Planet).
The anime will open on March 15 at Tokyo's EJ Anime Theater Shinjuku and at four other theaters in Japan. The screenings will be 90 minutes in length.
The anime's first two episodes were originally slated to debut simultaneously in 2018, with region-free Blu-ray Discs slated to ship last December. Rewards for crowdfunding backers will now ship in the first quarter of this year. The English dub will be included on the Blu-ray Disc release. Each episode was originally planned to be 60 minutes long and would adapt one volume of the original visual novel.
Anime director Tensho founded the new animation studio Bibury Animation Studio to produce the anime as its first work. Tensho is also writing and supervising the scripts. Akio Watanabe, the original character designer for the Grisaia franchise, is serving as the anime's character designer and chief animation director. Ryuichiro Yamakawa is planning and producing the anime. Frontwing is funding the anime on its own instead of using a production committee.
Kosuke Murayama is serving as as assistant director. Hitoshi Fujima (Elements Garden) and Fuminori Matsumoto are composing the music, and NBC Universal's Jun Nishimura is producing the music. Maon Kurosaki is performing the opening song "Gensō no Rinbu" (Illusive Round Dance).
