posted on by Crystalyn Hodgkins
Square Enix's PS4, PC game launches on March 5 in the West

Sony began streaming the opening movie on Thursday for Square Enix's Left Alive survival action shooter game for PlayStation 4 and PC (via Steam).

Sony is also streaming a story trailer and a "survival trailer" for the game.

The game will launch for PS4 and PC via Steam in North America and Europe on March 5. In Japan, the game will launch for PlayStation 4 on February 28 and on Steam on March 6. The game was originally slated for release in 2018.

The Mech Edition for PS4 in North America will bundle a VOLK figure, 80-page artbook, Steelbook case, and Survival Pack DLC for US$159.99. The Day One Edition for PS4 and Steam will include a set of five wallpapers and a DLC pack for US$59.99. The Steam version will also include a digital soundtrack sampler.

Square Enix describes the game:

Veteran developers, Toshifumi Nabeshima (director, Armored Core series), Yoji Shinkawa (character designer, Metal Gear Solid series), and Takayuki Yanase (mech designer, Ghost in the Shell Arise, Mobile Suit Gundam 00, Xenoblade Chronicles X) join forces to create Left Alive's dark and gritty world.

Left Alive tells a human story of survival from the perspective of three different protagonists during the devastating invasion set in war-torn Novo Slava in 2127.

Experience the massive power gap between man and machine in pulse-pounding encounters: face off against powerfully armed troops, armored vehicles and towering mechs.

Choose your playing style: engage in frenetic gun battles or dispatch your enemies with stealth and wit. Set traps, collect and craft consumables to survive while exploring a devastated city ravaged by the atrocities of war.

Uncover the full story behind the war through the eyes of three different characters: as you progress through the game, experience multiple story paths each requiring bold decisions with desperate consequences.

Toshifumi Nabeshima, who produced many titles in FromSoftware's Armored Core mecha action series, is serving as the game's director. Yoji Shinkawa, best known for the character designs for Konami's Metal Gear Solid series, is the game's character designer. Mecha anime designer Takayuki Yanase (Mobile Suit Gundam 00, Frame Arms Girl) is the game's mechanical designer. Final Fantasy series brand manager Shinji Hashimoto is producing the game.
