Film opened last week in several Asian countries, U.K., with planned February 14 opening in the U.S.

The entertainment news source Deadline reported on Monday that Alita: Battle Angel, James Cameron and Robert Rodriguez's live-action film of Yukito Kishiro's Battle Angel Alita (GUNNM) manga, has earned US$32 million in Asia and the United Kingdom, where it already opened last week. Deadline reports the film had opened in 11 markets by last weekend, including Hong Kong, South Korea, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan, the Philippines, and the U.K.

The film opened at #2 in South Korea earning US$10.9, and earned US$4.8 million in Taiwan, US$4.2 million in the U.K., and US$2.9 million in Malaysia.

The film will open in the United States on Thursday, February 14, but it is tracking to earn US$25 million in its first five days in the United States, with an expected domestic total between US$45 million and US$50 million, against a reported production budget between US$150 million and US$200 million.

The film will open in China and Japan on February 22. In addition, the film will get 4DX screenings in Japan.

The film's U.S. release was delayed twice previously from July 20, 2018 and December 21, 2018. The film stars Rosa Salazar (Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials, The Divergent Series: Insurgent, Man Seeking Woman) in motion capture as Alita.

Robert Rodriguez (El Mariachi, Once Upon a Time in Mexico, Sin City, Spy Kids) directed the film. James Cameron and his Lightstorm Entertainment partner Jon Landau produced the project, and Shutter Island's Laeta Kalogridis penned a script.

Singer-songwriter Dua Lipa performed a new song titled "Swan Song" for the film. Lipa won a Grammy at the 61st Annual Grammy Awards on Sunday for Best New Artist.
