Tsugumomo OVA's Crowdfunding Campaign Reaches Initial Goal in 14 Hours

Staff to reveal stretch goals at later date

The crowdfunding campaign to fund a new original video anime (OVA) for the Tsugumomo anime franchise launched on Thursday at midnight JST and reached its initial 3 million yen (about US$26,869) goal after 14 hours, according to the anime's Twitter account. The campaign has earned 3,144,000 yen (about US$28,150) as of press time.

The staff for the anime stated on Thursday that they will offer a stretch goal, but will announce that stretch goal and new backing plans at a later date.

The roughly 10-minute OVA will feature "slightly ecchi episodes that can't be broadcast on TV." The project will release a manga volume that will bundle the OVA in 2020. Depending on the funds raised, the length of the anime and number of episodes will increase. The crowdfunding campaign will end on April 26. Ryōichi Kuraya will direct and write the script for the OVA, and Zero-G will animate it.

The anime will also get a second season titled Tsugu Tsugumomo that will premiere in 2020. Ryōichi Kuraya is returning to direct the season and handle series composition, and Zero-G will again animate the series.

The 12-episode first season premiered in April 2017, and Crunchyroll streamed the series as it aired. Funimation released the anime on home video with "a combination of uncensored and TV broadcast materials based on what was available from the licensor" last May.

The anime are based on Yoshikazu Hamada's Tsugumomo manga.
