Senran Kagura Producer Kenichirō Takaki Works on Multimedia Project With Planned Anime, Game

Hanaharu Naruko designs characters, Hiraku Kaneko directs anime

This week's issue of Kadokawa's Weekly Famitsu magazine revealed on Thursday that Senran Kagura series producer Kenichirō Takaki is working on a new multimedia project that has a planned game and anime. The project will be a completely original title.

In an interview in the magazine issue, Takaki stated development started on the project about a year and a half ago. Marvelous is publishing the game. He noted that Hanaharu Naruko (Kamichu! manga, Gargantia on the Verdurous Planet, A.I.C.O. -Incarnation-) is handling the character designs, and Hiraku Kaneko (The Qwaser of Stigmata, Tsuredure Children, Valkyrie Drive: Mermaid) is directing the anime.

The new franchise will involve girl characters who will "remain clothed" (characters in Senran Kagura often have their clothes torn off in battle). The issue featured an image of a beautiful young woman on top of a river covered in cherry blossoms, and surrounded by cherry blossom trees.

Takaki also revealed in an interview in the issue that he is leaving Marvelous, and is joining Cygames to work on console game projects. Takaki noted that he will still work on Senran Kagura titles currently in production "up to a certain point."

Takaki confirmed that he will still continue working on the game portion of the new multimedia project despite his departure from Marvelous.
