Satoshi Miyakawa and artist Kei Itō's Uchū Senkan Tiramisu (Space Battleship Tiramisu) manga is inspiring a second stage play in Japan this winter. The play will run in Osaka in December and in Tokyo in January.
The returning cast members include Kentarō Menjō, Gaku Takamoto, Yūsuke Ueda, Kotarō Itō, Kaede Fujimoto, Kōhei Masaki, and Ryūko Isogai. Kazuhito Yoneyama is returning to direct the play, and Yūsei Naruse is again penning the script.
The science fiction gag comedy follows the everyday life of Subaru Ichinose, the ace pilot of the space battleship "Tiramisu." Since he cannot get used to being surrounded by older pilots, Subaru shuts himself in the cockpit of his personal ship "Durandal."
Writer Miyakawa (Haha o Nakushita Toki, Boku wa Ikotsu o Tabetai to Omotta.) and artist Itō launched the ongoing manga on Shinchosha's Kurage Bunch website in October 2015. The eighth compiled book volume shipped on Tuesday.
The first stage play adaptation ran in Tokyo and Osaka in July and August.
The first anime season premiered in April 2018. Crunchyroll streamed the 13-episode series as it aired in Japan, and Funimation streamed an English dub. The second season premiered in October, and Funimation streamed a dubbed version as it aired in Japan.
