Tohru Fujisawa Launches Re: Animal Joe Manga on May 13 (Updated)

posted on by Crystalyn Hodgkins
Original unfinished Animal Joe manga ran in 2007-2008

This year's combined 22nd and 23rd issues of Kodansha's Weekly Young Magazine revealed on Saturday that Tohru Fujisawa will launch a new manga in the magazine's next issue on May 13 titled Re: Animal Joe. The manga's first chapter will have an opening color page.

Fujisawa published the Animal Joe manga (pictured at right) in Shogakukan's Big Comic Spirits magazine from 2007-2008, but the manga was never finished. Shogakukan published one volume for the manga in 2008. The manga centers on Joe Kirishima, an elite businessman who is cool, handsome, and has a wonderful wife and a Porsche. But underneath all that, he has another face that he must keep secret.

Fujisawa recently announced that he will launch his planned Red Data Planet manga with co-creator Iomaru in Akita Shoten's Bessatsu Shōnen Champion magazine starting on July 12. Fujisawa had announced the manga in August 2013, with a planned launch in Kodansha's Magazine Special in December 2013. However, the manga did not launch in that magazine as planned.

Fujisawa is known for such manga as GTO, GTO: 14 Days in Shonan, Soul Reviver, Kamen Teacher, and Kamen Teacher Black, among many others.

Update: The 24th issue of Weekly Young Magazine revealed on May 13 that the Re: Animal Joe manga will run for only two chapters.
