DeNA plans to release game before April 2020

Game company DeNA announced in its financial results on Friday for the end of the fiscal year that it plans to launch a new smartphone game in the new fiscal year based on the Pokémon franchise. DeNA is partnering with The Pokémon Company on the game. The company's new fiscal year will end on March 31, 2020.

Niantic and The Pokémon Company launched the Pokémon GO app in select countries including the United States in July 2016. The game earned an estimated US$795 million worldwide in 2018, and has earned US$2.2 billion as of the end of 2018.

In 2015, Nintendo partnered with DeNA to lend its intellectual property for the creation and launch of "approximately" five smartphone titles by March 2017. Through that partnership, Nintendo and DeNA have released the Super Mario Run, Miitomo, Fire Emblem Heroes, and Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp games. Service for Miitomo ended in May 2018.

DeNA and Nintendo plan to release the Mario Kart Tour app this summer.
