This year's 24th issue of Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump magazine revealed on Monday that Taishi Tsutsui's We Never Learn (Boku-tachi wa Benkyō ga Dekinai) manga is inspiring a video anime on Blu-ray Disc that will ship with a limited edition of the manga's 14th volume on November 1. The deadline to pre-order the limited edition is August 26.
The anime will be 25 minutes long. The limited edition set will also include a "precious memories" illustration card by Tsutsui. The anime will cover chapters 48 and 49. The chapters center on Yuiga and Asumi faking a date on the beach, and later Yuiga meets his teacher Mafuyu Kirisu hiding since she accidentally lost her bikini top.
The television anime of the manga premiered on April 6. Aniplex of America has licensed the anime under the title We Never Learn: BOKUBEN, and is streaming the anime on Hulu, Crunchyroll, and FunimationNow.
Yoshiaki Iwasaki (Love Hina, Hayate the Combat Butler!!, Last Period: the journey to the end of the despair) is directing the anime at Studio Silver and Arvo Animation. Go Zappa (A Bridge to the Starry Skies, Beatless, Myself; Yourself) is in charge of series composition. Masakatsu Sasaki (Saki, Seiyu's Life, A-Channel) is designing the characters. Additionally, Satoshi Motoyama (WorldEnd, Oreimo) is the sound director at Magic Capsule, and Masato Nakayama (You and Me., My Little Monster) is composing the music.
The manga's story centers on Yuiga, a student who is aiming for a scholarship because he comes from a poor family. His school gives him a condition: he can have a recommendation for a scholarship if he tutors his two beautiful classmates to help them get into the schools of their choice. Ogata may be a science genius and Furuhashi a literature prodigy — but Ogata is aiming for a liberal arts school and Furuhashi is aiming for a science school. And they're both clueless outside their fields of expertise.
Tsutsui launched the manga in Weekly Shonen Jump magazine in February 2017. The manga's 11th volume shipped on April 4, and the 12th volume will ship on June 4. Viz Media is publishing the manga in English.
