Marvelous Inc. Vice Chairman Shuichi Motoda Takes Over as Chairman in June

Marvelous, Inc. announced on Monday that its current Chairman, President, and CEO Haruki Nakayama will step down from those positions on June 18, and current Vice Chairman (and Executive officer of Amusement business of Marvelous, Inc.) Shuichi Matoda will take over as Chairman. Marvelous, Inc. explained that Nakayama is retiring as he has been in poor health for a few years and is taking time for rest and recuperation.

Motoda previously worked for Sony and CAPCOM before joining AQ Interactive Inc. (which later became Marvelous, Inc.) in 2007. He previously became CEO of AQ Interactive Inc. in 2010 and then of Marvelous, Inc. in 2011, later becoming Vice Chairman in 2016.

Nakayama also became the chairman of Marvelous USA and Marvelous Europe in October 2018.

Senran Kagura series producer Kenichirō Takaki revealed in March that was leaving Marvelous, and would join Cygames to work on console game projects. Takaki also served as representative director of Marvelous' Honey∞Parade Games subsidiary, which Marvelous formed in 2017 for the production and promotion of the Senran Kagura series.
