Voice of Fennec & Giant Armadillo to also leave Doubutsu Biscuits musical group

The official website for the Kemono Friends franchise announced on Friday that Kana Motomiya, the voice actress for the characters Fennec and Giant Armadillo, will be graduating from the franchise and the related musical unit Doubutsu Biscuits. Motomiya's graduation will be during the "Kemono Friends Party" event on July 27.

Motomiya explained that she decided to graduate from the franchise to take the next step and grow more as an actress and as a person. She acknowledged the franchise's staff and thanked the fans for supporting her over the past two and a half years.

Motomiya did not specify what she plans to do after graduating, but she said that she would like to continue to take on new challenges, and ask for the fans' continued support.

Nexon's original Kemono Friends app game launched in early 2016 and ended service in December of that year — before the Kemono Friends anime even aired. The 12-episode television anime then premiered on TV Tokyo and TV Osaka in January 2017 and ended in March 2017. Crunchyroll streamed the series as it aired.

Kemono Friends 2, the television anime's second season, premiered in Japan on January 7. Crunchyroll streamed the anime worldwide outside of Asia as the anime aired in Japan.

The franchise has inspired smartphone apps, manga, as well as several stage plays. A Kemono Friends Picross game for Nintendo Switch launched in Japan and in the WEST. on October 4.
