Kana-Boon Rock Band Cancel Live Event in Wake of Bassist's Disappearance

Yūma Meshida's family contact police to start search investigation

Rock band KANA-BOON announced on their website on Thursday that because they have not been able to get in contact with the band's bassist Yūma Meshida (pictured second from the left) since June 5, that his family has contacted the police to start an investigation into his disappearance.

As a result, the band has cancelled its "KANA-BOON no OSHI-MEEN!!" live event that was set for Saturday in Tokyo. Those who purchased tickets for the event will be able to get a refund starting on Monday.

The band's other three members posted an update on Friday to state that they are hoping for Meshida's safety, and while continuing to believe that he will return safely, they are thinking about continuing their activities, and will reveal more details about what that might entail at a later date. The members thanked their fans, other bands, their staff, and those in the music world for their support and for keeping Meshida in their thoughts.

KANA-BOON formed in high school in 2008, and released their first single in 2013. They have released four studio albums. The group have performed theme songs for the Naruto Shippūden, Boruto: Naruto Next Generations, Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans, The Perfect Insider, and Karakuri Circus anime series, and the Boruto -Naruto the Movie- anime film. Most recently, they are performing the opening theme song for the Sarazanmai anime.
