posted on by Jennifer Sherman
Series to stream in English this summer

Sentai Filmworks announced on Friday that it has acquired exclusive rights to the Re:Stage! Dream Days television anime of Re:Stage!, Monthly Comptiq magazine and Pony Canyon's multimedia project about idol singers in middle school. The rights cover the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, Latin America, Scandinavian countries, the Netherlands, South Africa, Spain, and Portugal. The company will stream the series this summer, and a home video release will follow.

Sentai Filmworks describes the story:

Young Mana Shikimiya once had big dreams, but she set those dreams aside once she reached middle school in order to live a normal life. When Mana joins the Singing and Dancing Club of Homareboshi Academy to help save the group from being shut down, her dreams of stardom are rekindled. She'll give it her all to win the Prism Stage competition and be named the top idol. With her friends beside her, there are no dreams too big!

Shin Katagai (My Sweet Tyrant, Neo Angelique Abyss) is directing the series as Yumeta Company and Graphinica. Motohiro Taniguchi (Yuruyuri San Hai!, My Sweet Tyrant) is designing the characters based on original designs by Tsubasa Izumi (Akane Iro ni Somaru Saka, Mashiroiro Symphony - The color of lovers), who illustrated the franchise's novels. The novels' writer team yoree is in charge of series composition. The main in-story idol group KiRaRe is performing the anime's opening theme song "Don't think, smile!!"

The anime will premiere on Tokyo MX on July 7, and will premiere on BS Fuji on July 9. The show will run for 12 episodes.

The project has already spawned a novel serialized in Kadokawa's Monthly Comptiq magazine, a smartphone game app, concerts, events, and music CDs.
