Uta no Prince-sama Film Surpasses 400 Million Yen in Japan

Film opened in Japan on June 24, has sold 249,000 tickets in 13 days

The Mainichi Shimbun newspaper's Mantan Web news site reported on Friday that Uta no Prince Sama Maji Love Kingdom, the anime film in the Uta no Prince Sama franchise, has earned more than 432 million yen (about US$4.01 million) and has sold 249,000 tickets as of Wednesday, 13 days after the film opened.

The anime film opened in Japan on June 14, and ranked at #6 in its opening weekend. The film sold more than 100,000 tickets and earned 222.7 million yen (about US$2.05 million) from Friday to Sunday in its debut weekend.

Sentai Filmworks licensed the film, and the film will have a premiere screening on July 5 at this year's Anime Expo event. Voice actors Takuma Terashima (Otoya Ittoki) and Mamoru Miyano (Tokiya Ichinose) will be in attendance. Sentai Filmworks will also screen the film in U.S. theaters at a later date.

Utano☆Princesama Legend Star director Takeshi Furuta is returning as chief director, and Utano☆Princesama Legend Star episode director Tomoka Nagaoka is directing at A-1 Pictures. Hiroshi Nakajima (Fate/Apocrypha, Brotherhood: Final Fantasy XV) is serving as CG director. Maki Fujioka is returning to design the characters based on Chinatsu Kurahana's original designs. Fujioka is also the chief animation director. Katsuyoshi Miyajima (Cyborg 009 Call of Justice, AKB0048 next stage) is the character modeling supervisor. Elements Garden is returning to compose the music. Mamoru Miyano performs the film's theme song "Encore."

The film's cast members are reprising their roles from previous anime in the franchise.
