Manga inspired 24-episode anime series last year

This year's 33rd issue of Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump magazine revealed on Saturday that Kawada's Hinomaru Sumo manga is reaching its "climax" in the magazine's 34th issue on July 22. The chapter on July 22 will have a center color page to say "thanks for everything."

The manga inspired a 24-episode television anime series that premiered in October 2018. Funimation and Crunchyroll both streamed the series as it aired. Crunchyroll describes the series:

The intense fight for the dream of yokozuna has begun. A new student has joined Odachi High School's weak sumo club, the small boy Ushio Hinomaru! Although his physique seems ill-suited to a fighting sport where size and weight rule, Hinomaru! has an incredible dream. He and the weak sumo club will fight their way to the top! The intense battle of high school sumo has begun!

Kawada launched the manga in Weekly Shonen Jump in May 2014. Shueisha published the 26th volume on July 4.
