The September issue of Hero's Inc.'s Monthly Hero's magazine revealed on August 1 that Fujihiko Hosono's Sasuga no Sarutobi G manga will end in the magazine's next issue on September 1.

The manga is a revival of Hosono's Sasuga no Sarutobi manga, where the "G" stands for the manga's "global" approach. Like the original love comedy manga, the new series follows the chubby genius ninja Nikumaru and the beautiful female ninja Mako. The new story takes place in modern Japan at the "Way of the Ninja Academy," where Nikumaru and Mako represent Japan in a fierce battles to become "Ninja Master."

Hosono launched the manga in Monthly Hero's in June 2017. Hero's Inc. published the manga's third compiled book volume on March 25.

Hosono serialized the original Sasuga no Sarutobi manga from 1980 to 1984 in Shogakukan's Zōkan Shonen Sunday magazine. Shogakukan published the seventh and final compiled volume in July 1984. The series inspired a 69-episode television anime beginning in 1982.
