Hanebado! Badminton Manga Ends in Next Chapter

Manga inspired TV anime in July 2018

The October issue of Kodansha's Good! Afternoon! magazine revealed on Friday that Kosuke Hamada's Hanebado! manga will end in the magazine's next issue on October 7. The manga's 16th volume will ship on November 7.

Hamada had teased in an interview in June that the manga was approaching its climax.

The manga's story begins with Kentarō Tachibana, the coach of Kitakomachi High School's badminton team. He is worried because the team has so few members that it cannot even enter competitions, but then he spots a student named Ayano Hanesaki easily climbing a large tree on the school grounds, expertly demonstrating excellent motor skills. Tachibana tries to get Ayano to join the badminton team, but finds out that Ayano hates badminton.

Hamada launched the manga in Kodansha's Good! Afternoon magazine in 2013, and Kodansha released the manga's 15th compiled book volume on June 7.

The manga inspired a television anime adaptation that premiered in July 2018. Crunchyroll streamed the anime as it aired in Japan, and Funimation streamed an English dub.
