Shogakukan Asia Licenses Promise Cinderella, Junji Ito Short Story Collection Manga

Damekoi, Yami Shibai manga also licensed

Shogakukan Asia announced on Monday that it has licensed Promise Cinderella, Damekoi: The Late-Night Guide to Bad Romance, Horror Theatre - Yami Shibai, and The Best of Junji Ito Short Story Collection manga.

Shogakukan Asia will ship the first volume of Oreco Tachibana's Promise Cinderella manga on September 20. The company describes the manga:

A new line of romance manga aimed at working ladies, Popular twitter and pixiv manga artist Oreco Tachibana crafts a tale of modern day fairy-tale romance with [Promise Cinderella]. Ex-delinquent Hayame finds her happily married life turned upside down. Things couldn't get any worse, until she runs into rich brat Issei, whom she had previously humiliated!

Tachibana launched the manga on Shogakukan's Ura Sunday website in 2018, and Shogakukan will publish the manga's fifth volume on Thursday. Tachibana also launched an ongoing spinoff manga titled #Batsu Ichi Arasā Joshi to Danshi Kōkōsei on Ura Sunday in June 2018. Shogakukan published the manga's first volume on February 12.

Shogakukan Asia will ship the first volume of Ira Ozaki's Damekoi: The Late-Night Guide to Bad Romance (Shinya no Damekoi Zukan) in late 2019. Shogakukan Asia describes the manga:

Ira Ozaki's [Damekoi: The Late-Night Guide to Bad Romance] will also be available for the first time in English. Hailing from Shogakukan's Petit Comic lineup, [Damekoi] tells the story of 3 single ladies who trade stories of bad men and dates when they get together every night. The popularity of the series resulted in a Live action TV series in 2018.

Ozaki published the manga in tankōbon form first in April 2015. She launched a serialization of the manga in Shogakukan's Petit Comic magazine in October of that same year. Shogakukan published the manga's fifth compiled book volume last November. The manga ranked #2 in Honya Club "Zenkoku Shotenin ga Eranda Osusume Comic 2017" (Nationwide Bookstore Employees' Recommended Comics of 2017) poll in 2017.

The manga inspired live-action series adaptation that premiered last October.

Shogakukan Asia will ship Isao Sakamoto's Horror Theatre - Yami Shibai manga on September 27. The publisher describes the manga:

An adaptation of the wildly popular 2013 Japanese animated series, now well into its 7th season on TV, Yami Shibai enthrals younger audiences with sinister tales of urban horror stories and myths as told by a street storyteller. Replete with imagery of horror stories popularised by Japanese movies and pop culture, this exciting 1st volume is now available for the first time to English speaking audiences.

Shogakukan published the manga in February 2016.

The Yamishibai: Japanese Ghost Stories anime's first season premiered in July 2013, and the seventh and most recent season premiered on July 7.

Shogakukan Asia will release The Best of Junji Ito Short Story Collection book in October 2019. The company describes the manga:

2019 Eisner award winner Junji Ito completes the horror lineup with [The Best of Junji Ito Short Story Collection]. This volume includes ten of the acclaimed author's short stories, selected exclusively from the Shogakukan publisher catalogue, presented and accompanied with a gallery of six colour illustrations. Presented in its original form for the first time in English, this lavish large format anthology comes with full colour sections for your enjoyment. Aimed at mature readers, this series promises to thrill audiences with Junji Ito's macabre storytelling.

Ito is a prolific horror manga writer. His Uzumaki and Tomie manga have inspired live-action adaptations, and his GYO manga inspired an OVA. Uzumaki is inspiring a new television anime adaptation that will air in North America first on Cartoon Network's Toonami programming block.

The Junji Ito "Collection" 2017 anime adapted some stories from the Itō Junji Kessaku-shū (Junji Ito Masterpiece Collection) and Fragments of Horror manga.

Ito most recently worked on a manga adaptation of Osamu Dazai's classic novel No Longer Human (Ningen Shikkaku) that launched in May 2017. Ito ended the series in April 2018.
