Fortune Quest Fantasy Light Novel Series Ends After 30 Years

posted on by Rafael Antonio Pineda
Series launched in 1989, inspired manga, OVA, TV anime adaptations

Author Mishio Fukazawa revealed on Sunday that her Fortune Quest fantasy light novel series will end with the 10th volume of Shin Fortune Quest II. The first half of the 10th volume (seen right) will release on December 10. Kadokawa has not yet listed when the second half of the 10th volume will ship.

The series began in 1989 and has been ongoing for the past 30 years.

The series centers on Pastel, a young adventurer who goes on various quests with her colorful party members in search of adventure and fortune.

The first novel series had eight volumes from 1989 to 1993. The Shin Fortune Quest series ran for 20 volumes from 1994 to 2012. The current Shin Fortune Quest II series began in 2013. Fukazawa has also written numerous spinoff novel volumes for the series.

The series inspired a manga adaptation by Natsumi Mukai, as well as a four-episode original video anime (OVA) in 1993, and a 26-episode television anime series in 1997.
