Stream will mark 1st time episodes 1-49 get English dub

Hulu is currently listing that it will stream the "first season" of the Gintama television anime series with English subtitles and with an English dub starting on December 1. The first season covers episodes 1-49. Hulu does not list the show's English dub cast. This is the first time that these episodes will have an English dub. TV Tokyo is listed as the licensor.

The only previous episodes to receive an English dub are episodes 266 through 316 (considered season 3 of the anime). Those episodes are available to stream on Crunchyroll and Funimation.

Crunchyroll announced in July 2016 that it would dub and release anime, including Gintama, on Blu-ray Disc on DVD. Crunchyroll and Funimation released episodes 266-316 on Blu-ray Disc and DVD in 2018.

Sentai Filmworks released the anime's first 49 episodes on DVD in 2010 and 2011. That release did not include an English dub.

Hideaki Sorachi's Gintama manga, which ended in June, has inspired seven television anime series and 367 total episodes. The latest series premiered in July 2018. The manga is inspiring a new anime film.

The manga has also inspired two other anime films, various OVAs and event anime, two live-action films, and two live-action net spinoff series.

TV Tokyo also recently released the action-figure series Four of a Kind (Fōkazu) on Hulu on August 30 with an English dub.
