Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) hosted and live-streamed the PlayStation Awards 2019 in Japan on Tuesday. The ceremony marked the 25th anniversary of the awards, as well as the debut of the original PlayStation console on December 3, 1994.

In addition, PlayStation received the Guinness World Record for "best-selling videogame home console brand ever" at the awards ceremony on Tuesday. The award states that the brand has sold an estimated 450.19 million units as of November 7, based on VGChartz figures.
