Short Anime Films Screening at Online London Animation Festival

Online events cost £6 each, a pass is also available

The current online London International Animation Film Festival is screening several short films by Japanese animators, including Polka-Dot Boy above. The online events cost £6 each; a pass to the whole online program costs £45 (waged) or £35 (student or unwaged).

Atsushi Wada's My Exercise is in the International Competition Programme 4 – Being Human, available for 48 hours beginning Monday November 30 at 8 p.m. The short received an honourable mention at Animafest Zagreb 2020.

Sarina Nihei's French-produced short Polka-Dot Boy (trailer above) and Akifumi Nonaka's mekakure are in the International Competition Programme 5 – Into the Dark, available for 48 hours from Tuesday December 1 at 8 p.m. This program includes a talk with directors including Nihei, live-streamed at 9.10 p.m. on Tuesday and archived until Thursday December 3 at 8 p.m.

The Japanese-German animator Shoko Hara's Just a Guy is in International Competition Programme 6 – Animated Documentaries, available for 48 hours from Wednesday December 2 at 8 p.m. Just a Guy won the Grand Prix at Animafest Zagreb 2020.

Mizuki Kiyama's Bath House of Whales (Kujira no Yu) plays in Best of the Next Programme 1, available for 48 hours from Friday December 4 at 6 p.m. The short won the Lotte Reiniger Promotion Award at Stuttgart International Festival of Animated Film 2020.

Momo Takenoshita's DOGHEAD is in Late Night Bizarre, available for 48 hours from Friday December 4 at 10 p.m.

The festival's Music Video Session, available for 48 hours beginning Saturday December 5 at 7 p.m, includes the Japanese team TOCHKA's video for Onoe Caponoe's "The Message". It is a Japanese–Dutch–U.K. co-production.

The same Music Video Session includes two films by international animators for Japanese musicians. One is Sivan Kidron's video for Kaho Nakamura's Kittone!, a Japanese–Israeli co-production. The other is Julian Gallese's video for Manami Kakudo's Lullaby, a Japanese production.

The festival's Closing Gala – The Best of the Fest, where the winners are announced and shown again, will be streamed on Sunday December 6 at 5.25 pm, then archived until Tuesday December 8 at 5.25 pm.
