The company describes the first episode of the anime:

The mysterious girl Amira found Favaro who was boasting that he knew a shortcut to the northernmost land, Helheim, in a bar, and asked him to be a guide, but...

The series premiered in October 2014.

Keiichi Satou (Tiger & Bunny, live-action Black Butler) directed this adaptation of the "sweeping visual fantasy" at the anime studio MAPPA. Keiichi Hasegawa (scripts on Astro Boy, The Big O, Zoids) was in charge of the series scripts, and Takashi Hashimoto was in charge of effects animation. Goki Nakamura was the art director, and Osamu Mikasa was the color key artist. Shinya Sugu directed the CGI.
