Katayoku no Michelangelo manga focuses on Leonardo da Vinci's "only rival"

The December issue of Shueisha's Jump SQ. magazine revealed on Thursday that Shamu Itō is launching a new manga titled Katayoku no Michelangelo (One-Winged Michelangelo) in the magazine's next issue on December 3. The manga is set during Renaissance Italy, and focuses on a certain Renaissance artist who is "the only rival" for famous Renaissance man Leonardo da Vinci. The first chapter will have 74 pages including an opening color page.

Itō revealed in August that they are recruiting assistants for a new manga. Itō described the manga's story as centering on the growth of an artist in Italy during the Middle Ages. The assistants will be expected to do background buildings, props, and crowd characters, with a particular emphasis on Italian brickwork buildings.

Yen Press previously published all four volumes of Itō's Renaissance Eve manga (pictured right) in English digitally.

Itō serialized Renaissance Eve in Square Enix's Monthly Shonen Gangan magazine from 2012 to 2014. Square Enix published four volumes for the manga.
