Zee Cafe will begin airing the television anime adaptation of Sega's Valkyria Chronicles PlayStation 3 video game on September 19 at 6:00 p.m. IST. The channel will air an episode of the anime daily.

The 26-episode television anime series premiered in Japan in 2009.

Aniplex's A-1 Pictures anime studio (Ookiku Furikabutte, Persona -trinity soul-, Birdy the Mighty: Decode, Kuroshitsuji, Kannagi) produced the project under the direction of Yasutaka Yamamoto (episode director on xxxHOLiC: Kei, Big Windup!). Canada's Catherine St. Onge (HIMEKA) sang the show's opening theme song.

The story is set in the wartorn country of Gallia in a fictional version of 1930s Europe. When Imperial forces attack the small border town of Bruhl, Welkin Gunther, son of late General Belgen Gunther, is forced to fight for his life alongside Town Watch captain Alicia Melchiott. Along with Welkin's adopted sister Isara, the three escape to Gallia's capitol and subsequently join the country's militia forces.

The original Valkyria Chronicles games are set in a fictional reimagining of 1930s Europe. In the first game, the Empire invades the neutral nation of Gallia to claim its resources. The game focuses on the soldiers of Squad 7, a platoon in the Gallian conscript Militia, who fight back the invading Empire. The second and third games in the series focus on different Gallian military units.

Sega released the first Valkyria Chronicles game on the PlayStation 3 in Japan, Europe, and North America in 2008, and released Valkyria Chronicles II on the PlayStation Portable in 2010. Sega also released Valkyria Chronicles III on the PSP in 2011, but did not release it in the West. Sega released Valkyria Chronicles on the PC in November 2014. Valkyria Chronicles 4 launched for the PlayStation 4 in March 2018 in Japan, and launched later that year on Nintendo Switch. The game released for the PS4, Xbox One, and Switch in North America and Europe in September 2018. The game also received a PC release.

The third game inspired a two-episode original video animation in 2011.
