Japan Foundation Reveals JFF Chennai Screening Schedule, Northeast Japan Caravan Event

Northeast Japan Caravan screens Makoto Shinkai films in Imphal from November 19-20, in Shillong from December 16-17, in Guwahati from January 21-22

The official Facebook page for the Japanese Film Festival India (JFF) announced on Sunday the screening schedule for The Japanese Film and Music Festival in Chennai. The Japan Foundation's Indian Instagram account also announced that its Northeast Japan Caravan event will take place in Imphal from November 19-20, in Shillong from December 16-17, and in Guwahati from January 21-22.

Northeast Japan Caravan will have a mini JFF event that will screen Makoto Shinkai's 5 Centimeters Per Second, Children Who Chase Lost Voices from Deep Below, The Garden of Words, and The Place Promised in Our Early Days anime films. The event will also host a voice actor challenge, calligraphy workshop, yukata experience, and a Fukuwarai mini-game.

The Japanese Film and Music Festival will take place in Chennai from November 25-27 at PVR SPI Escape, Express Avenue. It will screen:

  • your name. Orchestra Concert by the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra and the band RADWIMPS on November 25 at 7:30 p.m. IST.
  • Makoto Shinkai's Weathering With You anime film on November 26 at 11:00 a.m. IST.
  • Makoto Shinkai's 5 Centimeters Per Second anime film on November 26 at 1:30 p.m. IST.
  • your name. Orchestra Concert on November 26 at 3:00 p.m. IST.
  • Makoto Shinkai's The Garden of Words anime film on November 26 at 5:30 p.m. IST.
  • Makoto Shinkai's your name. anime film on November 27 at 11:00 a.m. IST.
  • Makoto Shinkai's The Place Promised in Our Early Days anime film on November 27 at 1:30 p.m. IST.
  • Makoto Shinkai's Children Who Chase Lost Voices from Deep Below anime film on November 27 at 6:30 p.m. IST.

The festival will also screen RADWIMPS' Forever in a Daze Tour 2021-2022.

The Japanese Film and Music Festival will take place in PVR Cinemas outlets across India from November 4 to December 11. The festival took place in Delhi from November 4-6 and in Mumbai from November 11-13. It will take place in Bengaluru from December 9-11.

The festival screened the Poupelle of Chimney Town film, the Josee, The Tiger and the Fish anime film, and the 4K remaster of the Ramayana: The Legend of Prince Rama anime film in Delhi earlier this year after it canceled its earlier physical events in Delhi and Bengaluru. The JFF streamed the Patema Inverted and Time of Eve anime films in India from February 14-27 as part of its online festival.

The Japan Foundation hosts the Japanese Film Festival (JFF) annually in major cities across India. The Foundation hosted the JFF 2019 event in Kolkata, Mumbai, Bengaluru, New Delhi, Gurugram, Chennai, and Guwahati. The JFF screened films such as Children of the Sea, Garden of Words your name., Weathering With You, Lu over the wall, and live-action Tokyo Ghoul in 2019.

The Japan Foundation established its South Asian chapter in New Delhi in 1994. The Foundation promotes cultural and intellectual exchange as well as Japanese Language education abroad.
