New home releases from Crunchyroll

On Monday, December 26, Crunchyroll will release Season 1 Part 1 of Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation, the television anime of Rifujin na Magonote's Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation light novel series. It will be released as a Limited Blu-ray edition (pictured), which will include a 64-page art book, four art cards and a fabric poster. There are also standard Blu-ray and DVD editions.

Seven Seas Entertainment has licensed both the light novel series and Yuka Fujikawa's manga adaptation. The company describes the main light novel series:

Just when an unemployed thirty-four-year-old otaku reaches a dead end in life and decides that it's time to turn over a new leaf—he gets run over by a truck and dies! Shockingly, he finds himself reborn into an infant's body in a strange new world of swords and magic.

His new identity is Rudeus Grayrat, but he still retains the memories of his previous life. Follow Rudeus from infancy to adulthood, as he struggles to redeem himself in a wondrous yet dangerous world.

Manabu Okamoto (Gamers!) directed the series at Studio Bind. EGG FIRM is also credited for production. Kazutaka Sugiyama (animation director for DARLING in the FRANXX) designed the characters. Yuiko Ōhara produced, wrote, scored, and sang both the opening theme song and the ending theme song for the first half of the series.

Crunchyroll has also released Fruits Basket the Final, the concluding season of the 2019-2021 Fruits Basket anime series by TMS Entertainment. It will be released as a Limited Blu-ray/DVD edition, including a 120-page art book, two art cards, three paper weights and a shikishi. There are also standard Blu-ray and DVD edition.

Finally, Crunchyroll will release a Blu-ray edition of the feature film Seven Days War. The story, a loose update of a novel by Osamu Sōda, is described on Anime-on-line.

"A rebellious camping trip is Chiyo's last hurrah before moving away and Mamoru's last chance to tell her how he feels. But when their group finds a kid in need, Mamoru must lead a seven-day resistance against the immigration officers hot on their heels!"

Yūta Murano (Brave Beats, Dream Festival!, How NOT to Summon a Demon Lord) directed the film at Ajia-do. Ichiro Okouchi (Code Geass, Valvrave the Liberator, Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress) penned the film's script. Keishin designed the original concept for the characters, and Hiroshi Shimizu (Michiko & Hatchin, Megalobox) adapted those designs for animation. Sano ibuki performed the theme song "Kessen Zenya" (Eve of Battle).

Actress Rie Miyazawa returned from the original 1988 live-action film to play the character Hitomi Nakayama, the same character she played in the 1988 film as her major debut role.

Kadokawa Shoten published the novel in April 1985, and the novel inspired a live-action film starring Miyazawa in 1988. The novel also spawned a series of print sequels and spinoffs that has sold over 170 million copies and has added new volumes as recently as last year.
