Medialink Entertainment announced on Tuesday that it will open JUJUTSU KAISEN Hidden Inventory / Premature Death, the compilation film of the "Hidden Inventory / Premature Death" ("Kaigyoku/Gyokusetsu") arc from the second season of the Jujutsu Kaisen television anime, in Taiwan on September 5.

The film opened in Japan on May 30 and ranked at #4 in its opening weekend. The film sold 138,000 tickets and earned 198,332,500 yen (about US$1.36 million) in its first three days.

Tatsuya Kitani performed the film's theme song, an acoustic version of "Ao no Sumika," his opening theme song for the anime's second season.

The anime's second season premiered in July 2023 and aired for two cours (quarters of a year) for a continuous half-year run. The anime adapted both the "Hidden Inventory / Premature Death" ("Kaigyoku/Gyokusetsu") arc and the "Shibuya Incident" arc of the manga. Medialink Entertainment's Ani-One Asia service streamed the anime as it aired in Japan.

The anime is getting a sequel adapting the manga's "Culling Game" (Shimetsu Kaiyū) arc. MAPPA will continue to produce the anime.

The first anime adaptation of Gege Akutami's Jujutsu Kaisen manga premiered in October 2020, and it had 24 episodes. Ani-One Asia streamed the anime. The Jujutsu Kaisen 0 prequel anime film opened in Japan in December 2021. Medialink screened the film in various Southeast Asian territories.
