Kotaro Koizumi, Dori Sakurada Guest Star in Doraemon Birthday Special

TV Asahi announced on Tuesday that Kotaro Koizumi will guest star in the annual Doraemon Birthday Special on September 6 at 6:56 p.m. JST. Koizumi will play Howard Richie, a 22nd-century billionaire whose billion-yen gem "The Smile of Dorayaki" is stolen. Richie puts a bounty on Doraemon, who was seen on the security camera with the gem.
Dōri Sakurada is also guest starring as Konrobo, a fox robot officer who is trying to catch the wanted Doraemon.
The manga creator duo Fujiko Fujio debuted their famous Doraemon robot cat manga in 1969. The manga inspired three television anime series that have collectively lasted over four decades, television specials, and yearly anime films. The third series debuted in April 2005 with a new main voice cast.
The 2026 Doraemon film, Eiga Doraemon: Shin Nobita no Kaitei Kiganjō (Doraemon the Movie: New Nobita and the Castle of the Undersea Devil), opened in Japan on February 27.
The 2027 Doraemon film, Eiga Doraemon: Nobita no Jōki Jikansha (Doraemon the Movie: Nobita's Steam Time Locomotive), will open in spring 2027.
