Coinciding with the Year Dual Spain-Japan, Mighty Boy, the first official audiovisual adaptation of a Japanese manga in Spain, comes online only until the 4th of November. Subtitled in English and Japanese, from today you can watch it in the fifth edition of the Iberoamerican Short Film Festival ABC, at fibabc.abc.es/videos/mighty-5279.html

Madrid, 6th of October of 2014. Starting today, the fifth edition of FIBABC provides the framework for the online presentation of the first Spanish short film based on a Japanese manga, Mighty Boy. The film, a pioneer in the genre in this country, tells the story of a college student passionate about Power Rangers that works as an extra in a sentai series to pay his studies.

For the first time, a work of the famous manga writer Naoki Urasawa, author of bestsellers like Monster, 20th Century Boys, Pluto or Billy Bat that has won numerous awards (Shogakukan Manga Award, Osamu Tezuka Cultural Prize and Kodansha Manga Award) has come to life as a short film in Spain.

Familiar faces from the Spanish TV have collaborated on the project as well as a recognized school of specialists who recreated the action scenes.

After getting the assignment of rights to adapt Mighty Boy by the Japanese publisher Shogakukan and Naoki Urasawa's own pleasure for it, the young Spanish director Javier Yáñez (author of another titles in the fantasy genre like the rewarded Amor Sacro and A través del ocaso) gathered a team of over 40 professionals in all areas that worked together selflessly to take forward this original initiative that aims to build a bridge between the Spanish and Japanese culture.

Mighty Boy can be watched and voted online until the 4th of November in FIBABC where is competing for the Audience Award, a possible "passport" for Goya 2015 (the annual awards of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences Spain).
