JAST USA Announces Upcoming Release of Kana Okaeri

SAN DIEGO (February 19, 2015) – JAST USA today announced the upcoming release of Kana Okaeri, an adult visual novel game which is a remake of the original Kana Imouto game, first released in 2002.

Kana Okaeri is the story of Taka, a young man who must deal with the chronic illness of his younger sister, Kana. The original game defined the genre of visual novels for many fans, and this new remake brings new features including:
•an updated game engine
•full Japanese voice acting
•updated high-resolution art by Hirohisa Onikubo
•preservation of the original game story and content

In addition, the updated adult content includes uncensored images and animated erotic scenes.

The game will be released on February 24.

About Kana Okaeri

Taka must take care of his sister, Kana, who's been frail and sick all her life. Inspired by Kana's love, he becomes her protector to ensure she's always happy and safe. However, as her sickness progresses Taka must make difficult choices that will determine the remaining days of his sister's life.

The story takes on two rarely approached themes in a visual novel, death and forbidden love. It centers around the regression of Kana's health as her illness worsens, and her brother's struggle with the acceptance of death as an outcome. With her end approaching, their love intensifies, reaching a breaking point where their sibling love grows beyond what is normal into something forbidden; although it's revealed later the two are not blood related. The writer, Romeo Tanaka, also worked on such titles as Yume Miru Kusuri and Family Project, which revisit these themes from a different perspective, also well received by visual novel fans.
