Aniplex of America Acquires Eromanga Sensei for April 2017 Simulcast

SANTA MONICA, CA (March 31, 2017) – Aniplex of America Inc. announced today at their industry panel at Anime Boston (Boston, MA) their acquisition of Eromanga Sensei for their upcoming spring season lineup. Eromanga Sensei has been adapted from the popular light novel series of the same name by original author Tsukasa Fushimi, who is best known for his light novel series OREIMO. The series is scheduled to air weekly in Japan starting on April 8 and will be simulcast on Saturdays at 10:00 AM PDT on Crunchyroll, DAISUKI, and Anime Strike.

The series will star Yoshitsugu Matsuoka, the voice of Kirito in Sword Art Online and Tomoya in Saekano, as the protagonist Masamune Izumi and Akane Fujita (High School Fleet, The iDOLM@STER Cinderella Girls) as his little sister Sagiri Izumi. Animation production will be handled by A-1 Pictures.

About Eromanga Sensei:

Masamune Izumi is a high school student who writes light novels. Sagiri Izumi is a shut-in who never leaves her room. A year ago, she became Masamune's little sister. But one day, Masamune discovers a shocking twist—The artist "Eromanga Sensei," who has been drawing illustrations for his novels, is none other than his little sister Sagiri! His cute little shut-in of a sister, who has been living under his roof, is using an obscene pen name and draws lewd illustrations?!

This slapstick comedy about a light-novel author big brother and his little sister the illustrator brings a cast of charming characters surpassing even that of “Oreimo!”
