SaikouCon Opens Volunteer and Media Applications for 2017 Convention
Convention also sets date for opening of SaikouCon 2017 Cosplay Contest Sign Up and Launches Surprise Contest for June 2017
6/12/17 Allentown, PA – SaikouCon, which means "best convention", is the large scale, annual anime convention of the Lehigh Valley. Boasting a dedicated staff of longtime Japanese anime and manga fans, SaikouCon is excited to be the only large scale annual convention dedicated exclusively to anime, manga, and Japanese culture and pop culture in this area of Pennsylvania. The convention grew out of web magazine Anime Ate My Brain Magazine (relaunching soon); the sibling to music focused web magazine, Tastes Like Rock Magazine. Both journalistic endeavors fall under the publishing wing of Nerdy Rock 'n Roller Productions.
The convention will always remain very hands on and attendee friendly every year, while also maintaining a safe atmosphere for attendees to enjoy the convention to their carefree fullest. SaikouCon promises to remain an all inclusive event where all are welcome to enjoy the fun, friendship, and saftey the con has offered in the past. As always, Cosplay =/= Consent is a very important issue to the staff of SaikouCon, and the same rules and regulations that made SaikouCon Years 1-4 safe havens for cosplayers will be enforced just as strictly at SaikouCon 2017.
Volunteer Applications for SaikouCon 2017 are now open! Head to the Volunteers page, www.saikoucon.com/volunteers.html, review the details of volunteering at SaikouCon (age restriction, expected conduct, responsibilities etc.), and then fill out the application. All applicants will be notified of their acceptance or denial of volunteer status along with their schedule after the application closes on August 4, 2017. Notice and schedule will be received between August 5 and 7. Thank you in advance to everyone that applies! And remember, if you're not accepted as a volunteer this year, don't let that stop you from applying again in the future! Most of the time, denial of volunteer status is only due to high volume of applicants and/or all needed positions being filled.
SaikouCon has also opened media applications for members of the press that wish to cover the convention this year. Please review the convention's guidelines, rules, and expected conduct of members of the press, bloggers, and other content creators wishing to cover the show, before applying for SaikouCon press creditials.

The 2017 Cosplay Contest will be having the same competition categories as it did in 2016, Single Cosplay with subcategories of Novice and Experienced; Group Cosplays for groups of two or more with no subcategories as group members may not all be of the same experience level. SaikouCon is family friendly, but is not designed for young children. Pre-registration closes August 11, 2017 at midnight (the midnight going into Saturday August 12 not 12:01 AM on August 11 to clarify), there will be no extensions this year, so get the pre-reg savings while you can! The Holiday Inn Center City Allenton is located at 904 Hamilton Street, Allentown, PA 18101 (please note this Holiday Inn is in Allentown, PA; we are not returning to the Holiday Inn Conference Center in Breinigisville, PA that SaikouCon 2013 and 2014 were held in). The Holiday Inn offers several on-site amenities to SaikouCon attendees; the 904 West Restaurant for breakfast/lunch/dinner, the 904 West Lounge for adult beverages and non-con nightlife, free WiFi, indoor swimming pool for attendees that book rooms with the Holiday Inn, ambiance for photoshoots, 200 sleeping rooms in total, and very friendly staff!
