MangaGamer Launching West-First Japanese Visual Novel, Space Live
September 8th, 2017 - MangaGamer & Circus Launch Space Live,a Japanese Visual Novel Developed Primarily for the Western Market!
Since their establishment in 2008, MangaGamer and its Japanese partners have set out to cultivate the Western Market for visual novels, and this year we're seeing the next big step in that progress as Japanese developers start looking toward the western, English audience first before the domestic market. While some titles in these veins are still in development (such as minori's Trinoline and Supipara), today we're witnesses to the launch of a new trend with the announcement of Circus's Space Live: Advent of Net Idols coming to MangaGamer and Steam this September 29th!
"With each passing day the WEST. is growing to be an important market for Visual Novels, and Japanese developers are taking notice," John Pickett, PR Director of MangaGamer adds before discussing the origin of Space Live. While the game itself is a parody on internet browsers and idol competitions, it started when Circus, the Japanese developer of the Da Capo and Dal Segno series, approached MangaGamer with interest in developing a new title with the Western audience specifically in mind after seeing the growing reception for their products in the WEST. John also added, "It's a sign our efforts to cultivate this market have paid off. This success wouldn't be possible without the long-term support of fans that's helped us prove the viability of this market. I know other companies in Japan will be keeping their eye on the success of this title as they consider whether or not to make the shift themselves."
